Case study

One sign in a mountain town,
and 39 people got interviewed.

A plant nursery in Lake Arrowhead needed staff. We gave it one printed sign for the window and one phone number. Over the next four months the AI picked up 39 calls, interviewed every caller, and handed back a scored list.

41

Applicants in total. 39 called the number, 2 used the QR code.

46%

Of the calls came in outside weekday business hours. That is 18 people.

11

Scored 75 or better out of 100 and were worth calling back.

What the setup was

Lake Arrowhead is a small town in the San Bernardino mountains. The nursery is the kind of business this product is built for: a few staff, long hours, and an owner who is outside with customers rather than sitting by a phone.

The whole configuration took a few minutes. One job, called Staff Position. A short list of screening questions. One dedicated phone number, printed on one 8x10 sign in the window with a QR code next to it. Nothing else.

From April 16 to August 23 the line stayed up and we left it alone.

18 of those 39 people called when the nursery was closed. Somebody has to answer, or you never hear from them again.

When they called

The first call of the run came in at 5:00 in the morning. The last one came in at 10 at night. The busiest single day brought 6 calls.

Hours with no calls are left out. Times are local.

What came back

Every one of the 39 callers got a real interview, not a voicemail prompt. Each call produced the same four things.

  • A full conversation

The agent answered on the first ring, asked the nursery's questions, and followed up on the answers.

  • A transcript and a recording

Kept against the applicant, so nothing depends on remembering a call taken between customers.

  • A score out of 100

15 of them came back at 60 or better, and 11 at 75 or better.

  • A text, right away

The strong ones surfaced while the applicant was still interested rather than a week later.

Where this came from

The nursery is not a paying customer, and we would rather say that plainly than let you find out later. We ran this hiring line ourselves, on a real job at a real business, because we wanted to know whether the product worked before asking anyone to pay for it.

Everything else here is exactly what it looks like. The town, the nursery, the sign in the window, and all 41 applicants are real people who applied for a real job. The numbers are counted from the same dashboard a subscriber sees, over the run from April 16 to August 23.

When a customer gets a result worth writing up, that one will go here too, with their name on it.
